Richfield, Utah - Our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, John William McClellan, age 87, of Richfield, was called home on July 15, 2008 in Richfield of natural causes. He was born August 7, 1920 in Glenwood, Utah, a son of William Jeppie and Estella Nielson McClellan, the 4th of seven children. He married Gayle Stewart, September 1, 1942 in Glenwood, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple November 10, 1978. Gayle died March 21, 1997. John married Arla Potter Parsons, October 9, 1999 in the Manti LDS Temple. John was an avid bowler. He and his boys bowled on a team together and did win some tournaments. John was also an excellent dancer and enjoyed dancing. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his boys. John worked for A.J. Poulson for 40 years as a grocery salesman, traveling from Kanab on the south, to Nephi on the north, Fillmore on the west and Wayne County on the east. He served as the PFR for the Richfield 7th Ward for many years, securing the Stake Center Building every night. John is survived by his wife, Arla, of Richfield; children: Lynn and Susan McClellan of Annabella; Kim McClellan, Kerry and Amy McClellan, all of Orem; Jeffery McClellan of Richfield; Trudy and Alec Panatopoulos of Ely, Nevada; step-children: Pat and Ron Ferguson of Syracuse; Pam Parsons of Atlanta, Georgia; Letha Parsons of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mike and Kim Parsons of Bountiful; 17 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother: Ila and Joe Asay of Monroe; Grace and Zurrell Potter of Loa; Lucille Edwards of Bicknell; Nial and Sally McClellan of St. George. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry John McClellan; a great-granddaughter, Payton Inez Larson and two sisters: Fern and Elsie. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Richfield 5th LDS Ward Chapel, located at 805 North 500 East in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 7 to 8 P.M. or at the 5th Ward Chapel Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Sevier Post #5050 and The Richfield Unit of the Utah National Guard, will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Primary Childrens Medical Center or the Huntsman Cancer Institute in memory of John.
