Hanksville, Utah - John Wesley Re II was born on May 16, 1940 in the Dalles Oregon to parents Emilio C. Re and Florence McNeal Wright. He passed away due to complications from cancer on January 20, 2022 at his home in Hanksville, Utah at the age of 81. He attended elementary school at St. Mary’s Academy in The Dalles, then went to Wasco, Oregon and Olex Oregon elementary schools. He graduated from Arlington High school Class of 1959 in Arlington, Oregon. During his teenage years he found his passion for ranching when his father managed wheat and cattle ranches in Eastern Oregon. He married Francie West in 1959, together they had 3 children, Mark Todd, Dean Justin, and Rona Kaye. They owned and operated a wheat and cattle ranch along the John Day River near Arlington, Oregon. He served on the Gillam County Fair Board and the Arlington School Board. In 1985 he purchased a small trucking company in Hermiston, Oregon and operated it for several years until he moved to Reno, Nevada. He married Margaret Wilson in 2003 who had 3 children from a previous marriage; Shawn, Jennifer, and Tracy. John and Margaret resided in Cold Springs, Nevada, until he retired from the Operating Engineers Union in 2008. After retirement, they were owner operators of a hay and cattle ranch based out of Hanksville Utah, next to Margaret’s daughter Tracy. John was involved with the Hanksville Canal Company, Associations, and Agencies that dealt with cattle permits. They sold their cattle and permits in 2019. John continued farming and working on his equipment until he passed away. He is survived by his wife Margaret Re of Hanksville Utah; sons: Mark Re (April) of Arlington, Oregon; Dean Re (Susie) of Hermiston, Oregon; daughter: Rona Meads (Marty) of Hermiston, Oregon; Step-daughter: Tracy (Ronnie) Albrecht of Burlington Wyoming; Step-son: Shawn (Val) Wilson of Florence Arizona; 13 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren and his sister: Peggy Re Bock, Umatilla, Oregon. John was preceded in death by his parents: Emilio Curtis Re and Florence Beatrice McNeal Wright; Step-daughter: Jennifer Janene Wilson; Step-father: William Clayton Wright; and a brother-in-law: Vernon L Bock. Cremation services have taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
