Richfield, Utah – Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Jolene Jacobsen Peterson, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Richfield on December 26, 2024. She was born May 18, 1947, in Salina, a daughter of Elmer Ray and Vera Maureen Curtis Jacobsen. She grew up in Salina, graduating from North Sevier High School.

Jolene married Joseph Peterson May 6, 1968, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Ogden for five years and then moved to Richfield. Seasonally she lived at Lake Tahoe and Palm Springs.

Jolene was the owner and operator of Yo Jos Drive in Salina for many years, where she enjoyed meeting people and making them a hamburger. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary and Relief Society and lived the principals of the gospel: good works, charity, faith and family responsibility.

Jolene had a heart of gold and would go out of her way to help others. She loved the KISS rule, Keep it Simple. She loved road trips and has traveled to many places as far as Haiti, north to the border and south to the border. She enjoyed gardening, camping, four wheeling, wild horse and geese watching, pine nut hunting, discussing politics, the yearly balloon festival, and boating at Lake Powell. She lived for holidays, her grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.

She was a tough, stubborn, resourceful and intelligent lady and will be missed by her family, many friends and acquaintances.

Jolene is survived by her loving husband, Joe, of Richfield; children: Douglas Peterson of Salina; Teresa Adams of Hurricane; Amy Pritchard of Corvalis, Oregon; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Janice Jacobsen of Las Vegas, Nevada; Rex and Debbie Jacobsen, Mike Jacobsen, all of Salina; Brent and Mary Jacobsen of Richfield; sister-in-law: Lou Jacobson, formerly of Salina, now living in Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark Peterson; a granddaughter, Delacy Peterson; her brothers, Sheldon Jacobsen and Gerald Jacobsen; a sister, Carla Jacobsen; and two nephews, Gary Kalina and Kaden Jacobsen.

Jolene’s remains have been cremated and burial will take place at a later date in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
