Richfield, Utah – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Jon Harold Burt, age 67, of Richfield, passed away January 12, 2024, in Provo, Utah, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loved ones.
Jon was born November 6, 1956, in Cedar City, Utah. He grew up in Beaver, Utah where he enjoyed hunting, hiking, camping, and doing all outdoor activities. He graduated from Beaver High School, Class of ’75. He married Vicky Kelly and they were later divorced. He married the love of his life, Linda Carol Hunsaker August 4, 1984, in Pioche, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple November 20, 1999.
Jon lived in St. George for about 4 years, moved to Salina for 8 years and then moved to Richfield in 1989. He worked at USG in Sigurd for 39 years.
Jon is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as an Elder and helping in the Webelos Scouting program for several years.
Jon loved being at Big Flat on Beaver Mountain and fishing at Kent’s Lake. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, Diamond Artworks, watching the Green Bay Pacers and Nascar.
Being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was his life and that brought him his greatest joy, along with his and Linda’s trip back to Nauvoo and then the trip to watch the Green Bay Packers play.
He will be deeply missed.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of Richfield; his children: Donald and Kerry Burt, Jamie and Quentin Lagasee, LoReta and Scott Karns, all of Richfield; Tamra and Brian Robinson of Milford; Jackie and Robert Haight of Payson; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marion Burt; siblings: Kay Platt, Jan Rodriquez, Jerri Hare and Richard Burt; sons-in-law: Rory Collins and Jacob Karns.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the Richfield East LDS Stake Center, 805 North 500 East in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services.
