Jose Enrique Chavez

Centerfield, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, brother and friend, Jose Enrique Chavez Alarcon, age 54, passed away February 22, 2019 at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born June 28, 1964 in Chichihualco, Guerrero, Mexico, a son of Rafael and Maria Alarcon Chavez. He married Lilia Chavez Valadez April 11, 1993 in Chichihualco, Guerrero, Mexico. Jose was a member of the San Juan Diego Mission Catholic Church in Gunnison. He loved to work on cars, go fishing, watch soccer with his family and spending hours outside fixing things around the house, playing games with his family and most importantly, he really enjoyed working and providing for his family. Jose is survived by his wife, Lilia, of Centerfield; a son, Jose Enrique Chavez Jr. of Cedar City; a daughter: Crystal Chavez of Centerfield; brothers and sisters: Jorge Chavez, Trinidad Chavez and Maricela Gomez, all of Centerfield; Maria Magdalena Chavez and Victor Chavez, both of Dodge City, Kansas; and Rafael Chavez of Chichihualco, Guerrero, Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Maria Chavez. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the San Juan Diego Mission Catholic Church, 25 West Center Street in Gunnison. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the church in Gunnison, Friday morning one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
