Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend Colleen Joy Simper Adams Burgess, age 88, returned home to our Heavenly Father on Monday, June 5, 2017, in Richfield, Utah. Joy was born on April 1, 1929 in Salina, Utah. She was a daughter of Leland William and Alta May Bjerregaard Simper. She was a descendent of hardy, hard working pioneer stock. Her grandfather having crossed the plains himself. She attended North Sevier High School and graduated with the class of 1947. She married Dean L. Adams on June 14, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on August 12, 1994 in Manti, Utah. Dean died on September 2, 1974. She married Roe G. Burgess on January 11, 1977 in Ely, Nevada. He died on May 20, 2007. Joy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held various callings. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was excellent at crocheting and tatting, and won multiple blue ribbons and trophies at the Wayne County Fair and the Utah State Fair. She was a great cook and made the best pies, cookies and candies. She also enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. Joy was a generous person. It was impossible to visit her house without being fed, or being served a Coke. She was a great mother who rather than raise her voice, would give a look to a child or adult child that would instantly put them back in line. She loved her family and was greatly loved in return. She will be dearly missed. She was survived by her daughters: Glorial A. Swaim of Richfield; Mary Lee and Brent Jensen of Redmond; Cathy A. and Robert Boyter of Redmond; her sisters Leta and Roger Grimm of Kearns; Doris Nightingale of Midvale; Ellen Russell of Cleveland; Ardath Sheriff of Saratoga Springs; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
