Judy T. Story

January 22, 1942 — August 19, 2013

Winnemucca, Nevada/Fremont, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Judy Tanner Story, age 71, died suddenly and unexpectedly at the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada on August 19, 2013. She was born January 22, 1942 in Loa, Utah, a daughter of Clinton Burris and Retta Jane Blackburn Tanner. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1960. She married Ronald Neal Story, July 19, 1960 in Cortez, Colorado. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Judy enjoyed reading, genealogy, hiking and family outings. She loved her family and was very proud of her children and considered them the "Flowers of my heart". Her biggest accomplishment has been her family: children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She viewed her husband as her friend, forever. Judy was a conservative Democrat and a member of the LDS Church. Judy and Ron shared a calling in the Winnemucca 2nd Ward teaching Primary. Meeting and teaching those 11 year olds every Sunday was the highlight of her week. She loved Wayne County and often said her favorite place in the world was sitting on the big rocks overlooking the Fremont Cemetery and the valley beyond with the river running through it and in the shelter of Thousand Lake Mountain. Judy viewed her friends as the "perks" of live and believed that a smile is the universal language in the silent conversation of friends. Her message to her family and friends is: make the most of today for tomorrow may never come. Pray often and sincerely. Judy is survived by her husband of Winnemucca; her children: Leesa and Ashok Nayudu of San Diego, California; Thomas Neal Story of Lebanon, Kansas; Paula and Steve Cook of Elko, Nevada; grandchildren: Arianne Nayudu; Brandy and Casey Andersen; Levanna and Adam Layton; Travis Story; great-grandchildren: Byron and Taylor Nayudu; Bailey and Cody Andersen; Hannah and Waylon Layton. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clint and Retta Tanner; a daughter, Penney Story; and a brother, Ray Lee Tanner. Grave side services will be held Thursday, August 29, 013 at 12 Noon in the Fremont Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel, Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Fremont Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
