Karen H. Stubbs

November 4, 1934 — March 7, 2014

Salina, Utah - Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Karen Hart Stubbs, returned to her Heavenly Father on March 7, 2014 at her home in Salina. Karen was born November 4, 1934 in Provo, Utah, a daughter of Roland Kay and Violet Pickett Hart. She moved with her parents and older sister, Jean, to Price, Utah and then to Pocatello, Idaho, where she grew up. She graduated from Pocatello High School where she was active in drill team, pep club and involved with school plays. She then attended and graduated from BYU in 1956 with a degree in zoology. Shortly after she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the North German Mission. Upon returning from her mission she worked and excelled in the LDS Hospital as a Lab Technologist. At the age of 29, she met and married Grant N. Stubbs in the Manti Utah Temple. They were sealed for time and all eternity on the 10th of June, 1964. Together they raised six children. Karen was a creative and talented quilter and artist. Her family has been blessed to receive paintings and quilts to grace their homes. Mom was an example to her family. She was truly blessed with the spirit of Elijah and had many sweet spiritual experiences. She helped many of her ancestors receive the blessings of the temple. Karen most recently served as a coordinator, with her husband, in the Family History Center. She served faithfully in many callings. She served as a president in all of the auxiliaries of the church. She loved teaching the gospel and especially enjoyed teaching the Gospel Doctrine Class. She served as a faithful and loving visiting teacher as long as her illness permitted. She served as an ordinance worker in the Manti Temple for 14 1/2 years and made many friends there. Karen loved life. She enjoyed traveling, music, horses and adventure. She loved the outdoors and was an avid skier. She enjoyed just being in the mountains. Her greatest happiness was found in her love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and her family. Karen is survived by her husband, Grant N. Stubbs of Salina; children: Grant J. and Louise Stubbs of Richfield; Debra and Brad Sheppard of Sandy; Paige and David Selander of Choteau, Montana; Brett and Rachelle Stubbs of Palmdale, California; Nicole and Randy Blackburn of Loa; Gregg and Carrie Stubbs of Ogden; 33 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren.
