Kathie Merchant

Richfield, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother and sister, Katherine Outzen Merchant, age 62, of Richfield, died March 27, 2012 in Provo, Utah after a very short illness. She was born February 10, 1950 in Richfield, a daughter of Warren James and Grace Mace Wadell Outzen. She graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1968. She married Douglas Jay Merchant December 16, 1967 in Richfield, Utah. Doug died October 25, 2006. Kathie was a member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed tending her garden and keeping her yard well trimmed. She loved playing with her grandchildren and spoiling them to the core! One of her favorite hobbies was making crafts and teaching her grandchildren to do so. Kathie was an amazing woman and will live in the hearts of many for the rest of their lives. She is survived by her children: Cole and Alison Merchant of Richfield; Tracy Merchant of South Jordan; grandchildren: Whitney New, Ashley New, Colton Merchant, Jordan Merchant, Makenzie Merchant and Bryce Merchant; a great-grandson, Jade New; two sisters: Lois and Eugene Curtis of South Jordan; Dorothy and Larry Barney of Green River, Wyoming; half brother, Kent Outzen of Central Valley. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a half brother and half sister: Larry Outzen and Jeanette Outzen Atherley. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
