Kathy P. Bartholomew

Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Kathleen Petersen Bartholomew, age 72, died January 2, 2014 at her home in Gunnison. She was born September 14, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Edgar Lorenzo and Alberta Ogunita Lohmolder Petersen. She graduated from Gunnison Valley High School and attended Snow College in Ephraim. Kathy married Clive Ronald Woodruff, December 7, 1957 in Salt Lake City. They were later divorced. She married Paul Lee Bartholomew, August 9, 1978 in Elko, Nevada. Kathy graduated from the Utah Correctional Academy April 13, 1990. She was a Sargeant at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison. She organized the "Preserve Our Pool" for Gunnison City and wrote the procedure manual at the Central Utah Correctional Facility. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as the Relief Society Secretary, Visiting Teaching District Leader and a Sunday School Teacher. Kathy had a strong testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed gardening, handiwork, sewing, scrapbooking, fishing, metal detecting and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of Gunnison; children: Dennis and Kellie Woodruff of Sandy; Denise and John Prince of Kaysville; Don and Cindy Woodruff of West Jordan; Richard and Shelly Lemon of Gunnison; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Sidney Peterson of Midvale. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Alberta Petersen; a son, Joshua William L. Bartholomew; and a brother, Floyd Petersen. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Gunnison Valley Bank to the Kathy Bartholomew Burial Fund. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Gunnison 5th LDS Ward Chapel in Centerfield, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
