Kaye Chynoweth Madsen Brunson, age 81, of Richfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in Richfield.
Our Mom was born July 23, 1943, in Richfield, a daughter of Herman I. and Alma Ruby Jolley Chynoweth. She grew up in Angle, with her two brothers, Lynn and Gordon, on a farm, where she knew hard work. She went to school in Antimony in a three room building where all ages went. Later she was bused to Piute until they moved to Richfield for her Dad’s work, and there she graduated from Richfield High School.
She married Robert Madsen and they had 3 kids together. They later divorced. She then married Leo Brunson in Elko, Nevada. He had 4 children and we became a blended family. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2002.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mom worked hard to take care of the bills. She waitressed at the Rainbow Café in Richfield, then BJ’s and later they bought the place. She later worked in the Garden Grill inside of Days Inn. After Leo’s death in 2001, she continued working at the Garden Grill until she retired.
Mom and Leo enjoyed camping and fishing at Koosharem and Fish Lake. It was their home away from home. All the grandkids got to take their turns staying with them.
Mom loved her garden and bottling, especially her dill pickles. She was known as Grandma Pickle. The grandkids always fought over who got the garlic at the bottom of the jar.
Her greatest joy was having her kids and grandkids stop by to visit.
Mom is survived by her children: Kelly (Sheila) Madsen, Tammy (Bret) Albrecht; Jodi (David) Jolley; stepchildren: Roger Brunson, Debbie Norman, Darrell (Gayla) Brunson; 26 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Connie Henrie Brunson.
She is preceded in death by her father, Herman Chynoweth; her mother, Alma Jolley Chynoweth Ogden; her stepfather, Max G. Ogden; her husband, Leo Brunson and his parents: George Leo and Nina May Jacobson Brunson; her brothers, Lynn Chynoweth and Gordon Chynoweth; a step-daughter, Tina Lewis; a grandson, Chase Madsen; a great-grandson, Brink Madsn; brother-in-law: Clark Brunson and sister-in-law: Nona Aspiazu.
