Mayfield, Utah — Our kind and beloved daughter, aunt, granddaughter, cousin, neighbor and friend, Kelli Jo Nielsen, age 39, of Mayfield, died Dec. 18, 2014, at her home in Mayfield. She was born April 25, 1975, in Richfield, a daughter of Teryle Oscar and Jean Lewis Nielsen. She grew up in Mayfield and graduated from Gunnison Valley High School, class of 1993. Kelli Jo was the rock to her mom and dad. She helped take care of them and was always there for them. She loved to watch football and PBR with her dad. She was very spiritual and loved angels, poetry, lyrics, snow globes, country music and playing the guitar. She enjoyed teaching others to play the guitar. She loved her niece, Vickie, and helped take care of her since Lori’s passing in February. She liked camping and visiting with the neighbors. Kelli Jo was employed at Walker’s in Centerfield prior to accepting a position at Gunnison Valley High School with the custodial staff, where she was employed for nine years. Coworkers describe her as a kind and cherished employee who will be missed greatly. She did extra work at the school to help out others and enjoyed serving other people. Kelli Jo is survived by her beloved parents, Teryle O. and Jean Nielsen, her brother-in-law, Mark Lauritzen and her niece, Vickie Jean Lauritzen, all Mayfield; her grandfather, Glen and Sandy Phillips, Monroe; her uncles, Neil and Evette Lewis, Kearns; Duane and Alice Nielsen, Mission Viejo, Calif.; Cory and Lilian Nielsen, Kaysville; her aunts, Darla and Russell Kimball, Escondido, Calif.; Tammy Nielsen, Centerfield; Wendy and Brent Johnson, Centerfield/Salina; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Lori Ann Lauritzen; her grandmothers, JoeLane Chidester and Lila Phillips; her grandfathers, Clarence Lewis and Hugh Nielsen; and three aunts, Marleen Thompson, Marie Hawkins and Elaine Buchner. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at noon, in the Mayfield LDS ward chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday, Jan. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., or Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Mayfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
