Centerfield, Utah – Kelly Lee Sorenson, age 67, of Centerfield, passed away April 27, 2020 at his home in Centerfield. He was born April 30, 1953 to Maynard Donnell and Jeanene Ann Weed Sorenson. Kelly spent his early years living and attending high school in Southern California. After school he proudly served in the military for his country. Kelly joined the Army from 1972-1975 and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga, where he met Judy Knapp-Harvey, before being transferred to Ft Wainwright, Alaska, where they married and had a daughter, Nancy Lee Sorenson. After their divorce he left Alaska and joined the Marines, being honorably discharged in 1982. He served in Vietnam while in the Marines . Once out of the military Kelly met and fell in love with Alma Marie Lao. They were married in 1992 in Centerfield, Utah. They were inseparable and loved long road trips on their motorcycles. They also saw a lot of the country together as Kelly found work as a long haul trucker. Alma had 5 children: Debra, Angela, Roberto, Ronaldo and Rebecca, prior to meeting Kelly. Kelly grew to love them as they also loved Kelly. Alma passed away in 2010 and is buried in the Centerfield Cemetery. Kelly never stopped missing her and will now lie to rest next to her. Kelly lived a full life. He was a devoted husband, beloved stepfather, loving partner and good friend. Kelly is survived by his daughter Nancy Lee (Kevin ) Wolff of Grinnell, Kansas; step-children: Debra Longo of Santa Clara, California; Angela Bishop of Long Beach, California; Roberto Perez of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Ronaldo Perez of Santa Monica, California; and Rebecca Minor of Bellflowers, California; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Kelly has one brother, Steve Sorenson of Arizona and many other distant relatives. Kelly was fortunate to have good friends and family close by. He would often spend time with Richard and Dixie Smith and with his cousin Reed Sorenson of Axtell and nephew Seth Hendrickson of Gunnison. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maynard Donnell Sorenson and Jeanene Ann Weed-Sorenson. He lives in our hearts forever. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 12:00 Noon in the Centerfield Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Monday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Kelly will be buried with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard alongside his beloved Alma in the Centerfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
