Ken Payne

Salt Lake City/Salina Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Kenneth Maurice Payne, age 69, died June 26, 2009 in Salt Lake City. He was born October 22, 1939 in Mangum, Oklahoma, a son of Clarence Maurice and Mable Mildred Bowles Payne. He married Sheila Dee Clark, September 2, 1989 in Virginia City, Nevada. Ken retired from Canyon Fuel Company in March of 2004. His greatest joys were work, fast cars and his family. He is survived by his wife of Cedar City; children: Jammie Walker of Dallas, Texas; Tammie Detray of Grand Junction, Colorado; Sherri Sampson and Stacie Rasmussen, both of Salina; Natalie Hawthorne of Salt Lake City; Mike Hansen and Melissa Autrey, both of Cedar City; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bob Payne of Buffalo Gap, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jason Hansen. The family suggests that donation be made to the New Horizon’s Crisis Center in Richfield, Utah in memory of Ken Payne. At his request, his remains have been cremated and burial will take place at a later date. Funeral Directors: Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
