West Valley City/Richfield, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Kenneth Dewey Christensen, age 75, of West Valley City and formerly of Richfield, was tragically taken from us on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 as the result of an auto/pedestrian accident in West Valley City. Ken had just been visiting his wife in the care center and was waiting to get on a bus, when he was struck in his wheel chair and killed by a man driving under the influence. He was born July 28,1933 in Richfield, Utah, a son of Kenneth Mickelson and Ruby Watters Christensen. He was raised in Richfield, where he attended his formal school years. He married Colleen Carrigan of Monroe, Utah, August 18, 1962 in Central Valley. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, August 17, 1972. Ken and Colleen moved to Salt Lake City in 1966 where he worked as a mechanic. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving faithfully in various callings. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and just being in the outdoors. He loved taking his daughter, Clover, up in the mountains to fish. Ken was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen of West Valley City; his daughter, Clover Ruby Daniels of West Valley City; two granddaughters: Alisa Daniels and Selena Daniels, both of West Valley City; four brothers: Douglas Christensen of Richfield; Ron and Gloria Christensen of West Jordan; Danny and Brenda Ames, Carl and Glenna Ames, all of Joseph. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Ruby Christensen. Grave side services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Monroe City Cemetery, Monroe, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Tuesday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
