Salina, Utah - Kent Leon Anderson, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather has passed on to his heavenly home on March 6, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with COPD. Kent was born November 10, 1934 in Axtell, Utah to Leo Soren and Nancy Eliza Nay Andersen. Kent grew up working on his Dad's farm and spending many hours playing basketball and baseball with his childhood and life-long friend Hal Jensen. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High School with the class of 1953. Kent attended and graduated with an Associate's degree from Snow College and was a member of basketball, baseball and track teams. In his second year at Snow College, the basketball team took second place in the national JUCO tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas where Kent was selected to the all-tournament team and was also selected to the JUCO all-America team. Kent also attended Brigham Young University for one year and was a member of the basketball team. Kent served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. They were married on July 18, 1957 in Axtell, Utah and solemnized their eternal love in the Manti temple on April 26, 2008. Kent worked for Georgia Pacific at the board plant in Sigurd, Utah and held many positions including Superintendent, Purchasing Agent and Board Plant Manager. Kent loved to spend time with family and friends hunting and fishing in the Utah mountains. He followed in his Father and Grandfather's footsteps for his love of Fishlake and fishing for lake trout. He was very good with his hands - from building fishing lures, family ski boats from kits or the time he built a muzzle loader rifle from scratch. He also had a love for quarter horse racing and spent many weekends with and watching his good friend Dan Burns' horses run. Later in life, Kent found a passion for golf and enjoyed rounds at Palisade with friends and family and golfing excursions to Mesquite, NV. Kent is also survived by his two sons, Adam Brady (Angela) Seattle, WA and Jody Leo (Kiersten) Sandy, UT and Daughter Lacy Roselle Susman (Zeke) Logan, UT: 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
