Torrey/Annabella, Utah - LaDawn Turner Zabriskie, age 75, of Torrey and formerly of Annabella, died August 1, 2011 in Loa, Utah, with her nephew, Steve, by her side. She died “from having a good life” and after a valiant battle with cancer. LaDawn was born March 28, 1936 at her grandparent’s home in Aurora, Sevier County, Utah, a daughter of David Loren and Emma Kennedy Turner. She spent her childhood in Torrey. She was active in church and school activities, holding many positions in her teen years. After gradation from Wayne High School in May of 1954, she went to Seattle, Washington, joining her brother, Darwin, where she worked for two years. Returning home, she worked in Richfield at various jobs. Then started her career at Mountain Bell Telephone. She worked for them in Richfield, Ephraim and Denver, Colorado, retiring in 1984. While working at Mountain Bell, she made many lifelong friends and kept in touch with them over the years. LaDawn bowled on a league and many friends there, also. At that time, she met and married Daniel Lloyd Zabriskie. They were married in Pioche, Nevada on December 20, 1956 and later divorced. LaDawn loved life and enjoyed spending time and traveling with friends and family. While working in Denver, she would travel back and forth from Denver to Utah by herself on her motorcycle. She loved to ride her motorcycle. She and Lloyd each had one and traveled a lot on them. Later her love was her four wheeler. She rode with her friends on the mountain trail rides or where anyone was going. They were always willing to have her go with them. At that time her friends and her four wheeler were her life. Thank you friends, for being her friend and helping her enjoy live on her four wheeler. LaDawn enjoyed camping, golfing, bowling, traveling and being with her friends and family. She loved her time in Alaska and talked about her experiences there. She was a generous person, helping many people any way she could. Several people lived with her in Beaver Dan, Arizona, never charging them anything. She spent her time between her home in Torrey and Beaver Dam. She had many talents, including crafts and crocheting. She made afghans for all of her nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and family. She will be remember for her generosity and the love she showed everyone. She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. LaDawn is survived by three sisters-in -law: Maxine Turner of Taylorsville; Gerry Turner of Mayfield and Dorothy Turner of Venice; nieces and nephews: Tammy, Stacie, Pam, Debra, Steve, Bruce, Blane, Ryan and Bradley; 5 grandnephews; 3 grandnieces; and numerous Turner and Kennedy cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Darlene Turner; and three brothers: Darwin Lorin Turner, Roscoe LaVere Turner and Russell Kennedy Turner. Friends and family may call for viewing on Friday, August 4, 2011 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield. Grave side services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Torrey Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
