Ladella Shaw

December 6, 1933 — October 24, 2015

Aurora, Utah - Our loving mother and grandmother, Edith LaDella Mellor Shaw, returned to her Heavenly Home on October 24, 2015 at the age of 81 at her home in Aurora. LaDella was born December 6, 1933 in Fayette, Utah, a daughter of William James and Ozemba Minerva Pierce Mellor. She attended Gunnison High School where she was a cheer leader. In high school, she met her sweetheart, Lynn Devon Shaw. They were married December 27, 1952 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died May 9, 2013. LaDella's greatest joys were her family, the LDS Church, music and all her many friends. She and Devon could be found on many Friday or Saturday nights out dancing. We think she met him in Heaven with her dancing shoes on, ready to dance. She also enjoyed riding with him around the farm, checking the fields. LaDella was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a faithful Visiting Teacher until a few months before her death. She also served in many callings in the Relief Society and Primary. Temple attendance was very important to her. She loved her children and grandchildren and was always delighted to see them. Her chocolate chip cookies were a favorite at family parties and reunions. She was employed at the Wisteria Cafe in Gunnison during high school and at Salina Drug for many years. LaDella is survived by her four sons: Gary Devon and Kathleen Shaw, Michael J. and Nannette Shaw, Troy Rance and Kim Shaw, Robert Cory and Kelsey Shaw, Mary Shaw; and her daughters: Kathy and Steven Emfield, Sonya Lynn and Troy Kartchner; 34 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Devon; a son Craig Richard Shaw; sister and brothers: Faye, Lynn, Ivan and Edwin. The family would like to extend a special thanks to At-Home Health for their kindness and care. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
