Richfield, Utah - Clarence LaMar Mulford, age 88, of Richfield, died February 3, 2005 in Richfield, Utah. He was born October 27, 1916 in Loa, Utah, a son of Clarence Leon and Marietta Staley Mulford. When he was six years old, the family moved to Fruita, Utah in Capitol Reef. LaMar loved living in Fruita and still considers it the “Garden of Eden.” He was a student of the Old Fruita School House for 8 years. He graduated from Wayne High School and soon after that he went on a mission to the Northern States. There he met his first wife, Nina Morris, who was also serving a mission. They were married January 5, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to McCammon, Idaho where LaMar farmed until he got an opportunity to moved back to Grover, Utah. Life in their new home in Grover was a bit primitive at first, because of the lack of running water. The family had to take a bath in a number nine tin tub and haul the water all the way from Carcass Creek. They raised a few pigs and had some dairy cows and a couple of horses. They farmed alfalfa and wheat with occasional potatoes. LaMar and Nina and were later divorced. He married Novella Curtis Siebert, February 4, 1972 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Sigurd, Utah until they built a home in Torrey. While living back in Wayne County, LaMar got invovled in mining and Novella was the Wayne County Public Nurse. After they both retired, they moved to Richfield, where they have since lived. LaMar was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving diligently in many callings, including a full time mission to the Northen States Mission and two stake missions. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing horse shoes, and mining ventures. He spent most of his life as a farmer, owning farms in Payson, Utah, McCammon, Idaho and Grover, Utah. LaMar is survived by his wife, Novella, of Richfield; children: Dallas L. and Elaine Mulford of Plain City, Utah; Robert “Bob” and Elia Mulford of Bluffdale; Linda Rae and Jim Cochran of Heber City, Utah; step-children: Audrey and Wendell Nielson of Sidney, Ohio; Carole Jean and Evan Emmet of Richfield; Larry John and Marcia Siebert of New Orleans, LA; Mary Ann Siebert of Richfield; 47 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Denny and Della Mulford of Olathe, Colorado; Reta and Myles Jepson of Salt Lake City; Melva Lou and Ernie Wareham of Magna, Utah; Darlene and LaMar Hutchinson of Monroe; step-mother, Vera Mulford of Torrey; step-brother, Sherral and Myrle Allred of Bluffdale, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Leon Mulford; his mother, Marietta Staley Mulford; a sister, Chloe Dean West and a daughter, Leslie Jean Mulford. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 11, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. in the Torrey LDS Ward Chapel in Torrey, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the ward chapel in Torrey, Friday morning from 11:00 to12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Torrey Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
