Laneal Arthur Nelson

Elsinore, Utah - LaNeal Arthur Nelson Sr. entered the gates of Heaven on November 18th, 2023.

LaNeal was born to Clyde and Cleo Nelson on December 27th, 1936, In Provo Utah. He was one of 10 children, one of whom passed away as an infant. He loved his mother, and some say they had a special bond which was witnessed by his children each time they visited her. He lost his father early in life.

LaNeal worked most of his life. Doing what jobs he could find to support his family, such as working at a turkey plant, hotel maintenance, and a sawmill, which was his last job before he retired. He met his forever love, Kathy in the summer of 1975 at a sheep herder’s camp. They were married on September 4th, 1975. They had a love and marriage only some could dream of.

Together they had 5 children: Malia Loy Mitchell (Carlos), LaNeal Arthur Nelson Jr, Karen Kay Nelson, Lenard (Christina) Jon Nelson, and Tanya Joyce Couch (Brian).

LaNeal loved to fish. He would sing old songs as he drove through the mountain roads. His rule for fishing was "you catch it, you gut it". He loved raising pigs and chickens. He loved his many dogs. He loved to bake many things that he was taught by his mother. His favorite was peach Cobbler. He loved the Utah Jazz and Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved watching old western movies starring his favorite John Wayne. He loved Patsy Cline.

LaNeal had many grandchildren who he loved more than anything. Braxtin, Westly, Savannah, Dakota, Haydin, Emma, Aspyn, Jeffrey, Izzabella, Luna, Jason. He loved his nephews and nieces, some who looked at him like a father figure and their kids as a papa.

LaNeal is survived by his wife, 5 kids, 10 grandkids, 5 siblings, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 siblings and a grandson.

In this time, he would not want sadness for he is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 25th at 12 noon in the Elsinore Cemetery.

Services are under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina.
