Larry P. Cosby

June 19, 1937 — July 17, 2015

Aurora, Utah - Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Larry Powell Cosby, age 78, of Aurora, passed was July 17, 2015 in Centerfield, Utah. He was born June 19, 1937 in Los Angeles, California, a son of Melvin Powell and Dora Angle Cosby. He graduated from Escondido High School, Class of 1955. He married Gail Jean Major, December 3, 1955 in Escondido, California. They were later divorced. He married Leila Meregillano, November 18, 2005 in Escondido, California. They were later divorced. Larry was a member of the LDS Church, where he served as the Explorer Scout Leader and in the High Priest Group Presidency. He was a Sevier County EMT for 12 years, served on the Aurora Fire Department and served as Mayor of Aurora City for 12 years. He loved serving his community. He owned and operated Aurora Welding Shop in Aurora for many years. Larry loved to go fishing and enjoyed antique cars. In his early years, he loved to go backpacking in the Sierra Mountains. Larry is survived by his children: Debra Cosby of Ogden; Larry (DeEtte) Cosby, Sandra (Bruce) Malmgren, all of Aurora; 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a brother: James (Barbara) Cosby, and a sister-in-law: Luella (Howard) Lewis, all of Aurora; his mother-in-law: Winona Cataline of Centerfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Lee Cosby; 2 nieces and 1 nephew. The family would like to extend a special thank you to At Home Health Care and Hospice and Mission at Community Care Center and Assisted Living for all of their tender care of our dear Dad. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
