Larry Sawyer

March 10, 1940 — June 23, 2007

Richfield, Utah - Larry Sawyer was born in Hatch, Utah on the 10th of March, 1940, the third son born to Earl and Leora Wilson Sawyer. He died June 23, 2007 in Richfield of complications from Parkinson's Disease. He grew up and attended Elementary School in Hatch. Larry attended Jr. High and High School in Panguitch, graduating in 1958. The next few years were spent working with his father at Earl Sawyer and Son’s Construction, until his father was killed in an automobile accident in 1966. Larry served a short stint in the Military, then moved to Richfield, Utah where he worked at various jobs. He worked many years for Richfield Clothing. He attended Sevier Valley Tech in the Culinary Art’s program, after which he worked at the Short Stop, Little Wonder Café and McDonalds. Larry also worked at Deseret Industries. Larry eventually became disabled by the increasing severity of his Parkinson’s disease. He moved to Logan for a short time so his sister could look after him, but he missed his friends and acquaintances in Richfield. When he was no longer able to live alone, he wanted to return and moved into the Richfield Care Center in 2003. Despite his worsening Parkinson’s and painful cellulitis, Larry was able to keep his pleasant, cheerful disposition right to the end. Most of us could take a lesson from Larry on attitude. Larry is survived by two brothers and a sister, Stan and Betty Sawyer of Hurricane, Utah; Bob and Julie Sawyer of Bountiful; Judy and Don Shelton of Mendon, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Sawyer, his mother, Leora Wilson Sawyer who died six months ago, and a brother, Dell Sawyer. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many people who have shown such great kindness and friendship to Larry through the years. We especially would like to thank the staff and employees at the Richfield Care Center for the kindness and care Larry has received the last few years. Grave side services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Hatch Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 7 P.M. Burial will be in the Hatch Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
