Bicknell, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Larry Knighton “MacTavish” Torgerson passed away peacefully on July 13, 2017 in Provo, Utah. Larry was born February 24, 1943 in Richfield, Utah to Arthur Henry and Alice Luella Knighton Torgerson. He graduated in 1961 from Wayne High School in Bicknell, Utah. He attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, and he proudly served his country in the Utah National Guard. A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Larry served a short mission to the Southwest Indian Mission. Due to illness, he could not complete his mission. Larry married Thelma Orme, later divorced. He married Elizabeth (Libby) Easter in September 1985, later solemnized in the Manti Temple. One of Larry’s greatest joys was working for his brother at his brother’s sawmill. He was a timberman and loved being out in the trees and logging. Larry loved his children and grandchildren very much. He always spent quality time with them. He loved homework time. He was a firm believer in homework. He said that was quality time he got to spend with his children. He loved fishing, especially fishing with his best friend, Jerry Jackson, and also with his daughter, Sarah. She was his “fishing buddy”. He loved bike riding. The best times would be when he was riding with his children. He loved reading. He loved reading the scriptures and reading to his children and grandchildren. Larry loved and cared about people. Everywhere he went he would make friends. He was always willing to help anyone. He was friendly, kind, and would greet you with his beautiful smile. Larry will be missed greatly by his loving wife, Libby of Bicknell; sons, Andrew (Carolann) of Staten Island, New York; Lealand (Karene) of Eagle, Idaho; Richard (Mandy) of Orem, Utah; daughters, Melody Wilkinson (Todd) of Decatur, Illinois, and Sarah Torgerson of Orem, Utah; 11 grandchildren; brother, Phil Torgerson of Lyman, Utah; sister-in-law, Connie Larsen of Bicknell, Utah; brothers and sisters-in-law; many loving nieces and nephews and friends.
