Sigurd, Utah - Larry Van Stewart, age 73, died at his home in Sigurd on July 12, 2011, after a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was born November 2, 1937 in Richfield, Utah, a son of Urban Van and Amy Levera Hunt Stewart. Larry married his lifelong friend and companion Gloria Dawn Curtis on May 13, 1958 in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 13, 1972. They were blessed with five children. Larry was a man of few words, quiet, gentle and wise. He was a gentle giant, a faithful companion, and a dedicated father. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, of Sigurd; children: Larry Craig and Rose Stewart of Sierra Vista, AZ; Richard Allan Stewart of Richfield; Randall Wayne and Shane Stewart of Sigurd, Lorrie Ranae and Doug Brinkerhoff of Cathlement, WA; and Ronald Duane and Kevin Stewart of Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters and was preceeded in death by his parents and one brother. Grave side services will be held Monday, July 18, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the Monroe City Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Central Utah Cancer Clinic Foundation, 1055 North 500 West, Suite 202 in Provo, Utah 84604.
