Laura Ostberg Hunt

Torrey, Utah - Our beloved and devoted Mother and Grandmother, Elsie Anna Laura Ostberg Hunt has returned home to our Heavenly Father; to her husband and the open arms of her loving family. She died on November 30, 2008 at the home of a daughter in Grantsville, Utah. Laura has lived 100 years of a rich life, filled with devotion to family, community and service. Laura was one of 10 children, born on July 28, 1908 in Cainville, Utah, a daughter of John Jacob Alfred and Elsie Evangeline Cook Ostberg. She married Floyd Albert Hunt, November 17, 1925 in Loa, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple, May 19, 1927. They had 5 beautiful daughters. Floyd died September 29, 1975. Her 100 years of life was spent in service to her family, her church and community. She had award winning talents including quilting, crocheting, baking, and gardening. Her hands were worn from hard work and service. The evidence of her handy work adorn the homes of family and friends of those she loved. She served faithfully in various teaching and leadership positions as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In her later years she was especially interested in politics, current events, and was an avid Utah Jazz Fan. Laura is survived by her daughters: Lenore (Elmer) Peterson of Torrey; LaVerne Hunt and Bernice Hiatt, both of Grantsville; and Shanna Rae (Michael) Simkins of Kaysville. She found great joy in her 21 grandchildren, 78 great grand children, 91 great, great grandchildren, and 3 great, great, great grandchildren. Laura is honored and adored by her posterity. She has lived a life in which she has lifted, taught, and inspired those who continue to adore her. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Norma Dean (George) Busenbark; 8 grandchildren; four sisters and five brothers: Evangeline Tappan Godby, Lorraine Richardson, Golda Cannon, Wanda Jensen, Frank Hat, Ellis Ostberg, Victor Ostberg, Travers Ostberg and baby Alfred Ostberg. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Torrey LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, Utah, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Torrey Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
