Salina, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor, LaVina McBroon Horne, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2021, at her home in Salina. LaVina was born in Ferron, Utah on May 8, 1945, to Allen and Lucile Akelund McBroon. She grew up in Emery and graduated from Emery High with the class of 1963. After school she and her twin sister Sam left home and moved to Salina to work at the turkey plant. Salina became her lifelong home and was where she raised her two boys, Gaden and Richard. LaVina worked throughout her life and especially enjoyed working with the ladies at the Producers Auction Cafe. She loved her siblings and was especially close to her twin sister. She liked to visit her in St. George and enjoyed their shopping trips together. LaVina loved her family very much. She loved her grandkids and was a good grandma. She spoiled them thoroughly on birthdays and holidays and enjoyed seeing them and being with them. By all who knew her, she will be missed. LaVina is survived by her sons: Gaden Horne; Richard and Rochelle Horne; grandsons: Erick and Tyler Horne, all of Salina; granddaughters: Kayla and David Crosland of Macon, Georgia; Jordan and Ty Jessen of St. George; sister: Sam Torgensen of Washington; brothers: Allan McBroon of Evanston, Wyoming; Robert McBroon of Emery. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister: LuAnn and Don Hinkins; brother: Jimmy McBroon; brother-in-law Thad Torgensen. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 16 at 11:00 A.M. in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 150 East Main Street, Salina, from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina.
