Lavor Mikesell

Richfield, Utah - Wilson LaVor Mikesell, age 92, died October 30, 2004 at his home in Richfield. He was born July 15, 1912 in Monroe, Utah, a son of John and Blanche Vilate Roberts Mikesell. He married Rhoda Crosland, February 29, 1932 in Richfield, Utah. She died December 2, 1988. LaVor was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. LaVor helped with the 4-H and the FFA on their camp trips. He was a miner, truck driver, and he worked at the Anaconda Smelter in Tooele, for the Sevier County Irrigation Company in Richfield, the US Postal Service and for Richfield City. He loved to haul wood and enjoyed fixing chain saws. He was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors. LaVor loved horses. He loved breaking them, trading them and riding them. He was a master on the harmonic and enjoyed playing it. LaVor is survived by his children: Gloria Johnson of Sterling, Utah; LaVor Dean Mikesell of Rush Valley; Lois and Dale Erickson of Lincoln, Utah; Bob Mikesell and LaMar Mikesell, both of Richfield; 30 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; sister: Myrle Frye of Richfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhoda; a daughter: Colleen Ashworth; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; three brothers and three sisters: Leon Mikesell; Von Syddall; June Syddall; Eleanor Mikesell; Wanda Adair and Sylvia Sandberg. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 5, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 11:00 to 12:20 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Sevier VFW Post #5050 will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
