Lawrence E. Anderson Gunnison, Utah - Our kind and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Lawrence Elbert Anderson, age 99, died July 25, 2003 in Gunnison. He was born July 14, 1904 in Ephraim, Utah, a son of Joseph Franklin and Annie Pauline O. Dorius Anderson. He graduated from Manti High School, Class of 1922. He attended Snow College and graduated from BYU. He taught schools for one year in Fayette and for 37 years at Gunnison High School. Lawrence married Thelma Rebecca Mickelsen, June 5, 1930 in the Manti LDS Temple. She died September 28, 1989. He married Alta Spencer Anderson Cowley, May 12, 1990 in Aurora, Utah. She died January 10, 2002. Lawrence was the owner and operator of a sign painting business. He enjoyed painting, especially landscapes. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a scouter and had served as a scout master most of his adult life. He was a member of the LDS Church. Lawrence is survived by his children: McKay Anderson, Salt Lake City; Joan Haws, St. George; Steve Anderson, Gunnison; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Eva Anderson, Yuba City, CA; Edith Spidel, Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by a son, Therald Ray and his wife, Karen Anderson; three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at 12 Noon in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center Street in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 P.M. And Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
