Lawrence W. Mason

March 3, 1923 — May 5, 2011

Aurora, Utah - Our kind loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Lawrence W. Mason, age 88, passed away May 5, 2011 in Ephraim, Utah, with his beloved wife at his side. Lawerence was born March 3, 1923 in Venice, Utah, a son of Raymond and Wilma Avery Mason. He graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1941. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army, serving in the South Pacific. He married his eternal companion, Evelyn Eva Johnson, November 13, 1945, for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple. Lawrence was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a teacher, Priesthood Leader and Ward Clerk. He served as a Mayor of Aurora for 14 years and also served on the Aurora City Council. He worked for US Gypsum in Sigurd and had his own farm near Aurora. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and farming. Lawrence is survived by his sweetheart, Evelyn Mason of Aurora; children: Dianna (Kent) Jeppesen of Mantua; Roger (Karen) Mason of Tucson, Arizona; Clyde (Ann) Mason of South Jordan; Marlin (Cynthia) Mason of Ephraim; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister: Erma Anderson of Mayfield, Utah and a sister-in-law: Ruby Mason of Los Alamos, New Mexico. He was proceeded in death by a brother, Eldon Mason and a brother-in-law Roy Anderson. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Golden Skyline Assisted Living Center in Ephraim and the attentive Hospice team from Gunnison Valley Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 12 noon in the Aurora 1st Ward Chapel, 85 North Main Street in Aurora, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Aurora Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
