Gunnison, Utah - Our kind and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend, LeEarl Nay, age 85, passed away on February 22, 2014 after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born on June 12, 1928 in Salina, a son of Elonzo and Ethel Simonsen Nay. He grew up in Gunnison and attended Gunnison High School. He married Nola Mae Rosenlund on January 12, 1949 in Manti, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple. LeEarl worked as a carpenter in the Salt Lake City area for over forty years. He helped to construct many landmarks in the state and out, including the Marriot Center, the LDS Church Office Building, the McKay Dee Hospital, and the Mini Dome in Pocatello. He was proud of all the numerous buildings and homes he helped to create, and liked to point them out while traveling with his family. LeEarl was a member of the LDS Church and served in the scouting program. He loved the outdoors, where he liked to hunt and fish. He enjoyed gardening. He liked travel. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, and loved to build things for his family and friends. He is survived by his son Gerald and Janelle Nay of Gunnison; his daughter Debra and Paul Bagley of Riverton; his daughter-in-law Lee Ann Nay of Orem; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his wife Nola Mae Nay; his parents Elonzo and Ethel Nay; his son Robert Nay; his brothers: Wayne Nay; Eugene Nay; Bill Nay. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center at 80 West Center, Gunnnison. Friends may call for viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
