Leland B. Allen

Taylorsville/Lyman, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Leland Buchanan “Deacon” Allen, age 74, died July 1, 2009 at his home in Taylorsville. He was born July 25, 1934 in Lyman, Utah, a son of Samuel Fay and Helen Amelia Oldroyd Allen. He married Ronalee Gleave, June 23, 1956 in Richfield, Utah. Deacon drove truck for LA Young Construction, WW Clyde Construction and SJ Groves Construction. He was a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Ronalee, of Taylorsville; his children: Vickie Lynn and Bruce Herd of West Valley City; Sam and Dana Allen of South Jordan; Roger D. and Traci Allen of Taylorsville; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Dr. Raymond Archie Allen of Pasadena, California; Myrl and Reed Kendell of Provo; sister-in-law: Gwen M. Allen of Taylorsville. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Leland Allen; his parents, Sam and Helen Oldroyd Allen; brothers and sisters: Fay O. Allen, Maureen and Brent Morrell, Eugene and Shirley Allen, and Ethal Allen. Grave side services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Lyman Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Bennion 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 5775 South 2700 West in Taylorsville, Wednesday evening, July 8, from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, Thursday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
