Leland Teeples

January 31, 1931 — August 25, 2009

Richfield, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Leland Taft Teeples, age 78, of Richfield, died August 25, 2009 in Murray, Utah, of complications following a long, hard battle with cancer. He was born January 31, 1931 in Bicknell, Utah, a son of Howard Leland and Myrtle Smith Taft Teeples. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1949. During the Korean Conflict, Leland served his country in the United States Army as a Captain. He married Sarah LuDean Jackson, May 16, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities including: Scout Master; the first Stake President of the Moab, Utah Stake; in 7 Bishoprics; Home Teacher; on the High Council for 20 years, and he and his wife, LuDean served three full time missions. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, hunting, fishing and scripture study. He is survived by his loving wife, LuDean, of Richfield; their children: Valdon and Tess Teeples of Apache Junction, Arizona; Sheldon and Michelle Teeples of West Valley City; Annette (Jeff, deceased) Ross of South Jordan; LaPreal and Larry Hansen of West Jordan; Beverly and Rick Farnsworth, Jeff Teeples, all of Richfield; David and Heidi Teeples of Elk Ridge; 49 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Eldon (deceased) and Shirlee Teeples of Sunset; Myrna and Dean Behunin of Sandy; Phyllis (Morris, deceased) Ercanbrack of Orem; Shirley and Carl Shepherd of Benjamin. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Richfield 2nd, 10th and 14th LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Richfield, Saturday from12 Noon to 1:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #505 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
