Lena W. Kinsel

June 17, 1940 — October 11, 2018

Chester, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Lena Vernita Wilson Kinsel, passed away suddenly on October 11th, 2018 at Gunnison Valley Hospital. Lena was born June 17, 1940 in Coppermine, Arizona to Fred and Nellie Acothley Wilson. Lena married Herman Kinsel in April of 1966 in Gallup, New Mexico. He passed away August 29, 2016. Lena was a loving mother to four children, and grandmother to 7 grandchildren. She was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Herman and Lena lived at Sheep Camp, then in 1978, with their children, moved to Sanpete County to work for Moroni Feed Co. Lena taught by examples of honesty, humor, a wondrous work ethic, and how to properly care for others. Throughout her life she raised sheep, cows, horses, goats, chickens and many other animals. She took pride in her flock and was able to nurture and care for them. Lena was well-known for her culinary skills, especially her Navajo Fry Bread. She loved to travel, accompany family members on hunts, laugh, sing, read and study the scriptures. She had many trials in life, and never once did she question her faith of The Gospel. She loved her family immensely. She was proud of their accomplishments and loved to relish in their success. She is survived by her sister Amelia (Henry) Nez of Tuba City, AZ. Children: Hernold (Eve) Kinsel of Ely, NV, Michelle (James) Whelan of Richfield, UT, Shanna (Dennis) Springer of Wales, UT, and Marvin Kinsel of Salt Lake City, UT. Grandchildren: Samatha and Cedric Jones, Moriah Whelan, Shane and Tegan Springer, Aurora and Allissa Kinsel. Preceded in death by her husband, Herman; Franklin Wilson (brother); Mike Wilson (nephew); and her parents Nellie and Fred Wilson. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Mission at Community Living Center in Centerfield, medical professionals at Gunnison Valley Hospital, Dr. Darin Cummings, Dr. Paul Gardner, IHC Ephraim Clinic, Sanpitch 1st Ward and Richfield 7thWard. Graveside services will be held Saturday October 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Richfield City Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfieled, prior to the graveside services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
