Leona Oryall

Payson, Utah - Leona Gwen Ericksen Oryall, age 76, died June 12, 2007 in Payson, Utah. She is lovingly accepted and welcomed by a kind Heavenly Father and her spouse, Cliff. Leona was born February 5, 1931 in Huntington, Utah, a daughter of James Peter and Christena Geneva Allen Ericksen. She married Clifford Donald Oryall, July 19, 1947 in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple, August 6, 1998. Cliff died August 19, 1999. Leona lived in Huntington, Torrey, Koosharem, Orderville, Salina, Provo, Garrison, Benjamin and Payson, Utah and Baker, Nevada. She was a hard and dedicated worker her entire life. She worked in the Salina and Nephi Turkey Plant, picked cherries, helped in several canneries, worked in the Rand Dry Cleaners, and for more than 26 years, she served in the cafeteria and as a Psychiatric Technician, lovingly helping and being compassionate to those with mental illness, at the Utah State Hospital, from where she retired. Leona enjoyed genealogy, camping, fishing at her favorite spot, babies, crocheting, Gooseberry family trips, gathering and recording family history, traveling, her heritage, computer and temple attendance. Her greatest joy was times spent with family members and she loved family reunions. She provided multiple opportunities for her ancestors and kin to enjoy the blessings of the temple. Mom served as the first counselor in the Relief Society, as a Primary Teacher, devoted Visiting Teacher, Genealogy Teacher and extraction worker. She served in the community as a 4H Leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She truly is a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her children: Lynda LaVon Oryall Palacio, Donald Gene (Pat) Oryall, David Rae (DeAnn) Oryall and Elizabeth Gwen Oryall, all of Payson; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother: Arlene Emmons of Provo; Anita (Hyrum) Thorsen of Salina; Daniel James “Jim” (Louise) Ericksen of Junction. She was preceded in death by her loving spouse, Clifford D. Oryall; a grandson, Tristen Joseph Oryall, her parents; brothers: Ronald (Mary) Ericksen, John Allen “Jackie” Riley and sisters: Fanny Lorena Ericksen and Ardella Riley Emmons. The family wishes to thank Mountain Air Assisted Living Facility in Payson, A+ Home Health services, Dr. David Bennion, Dr. J. Cordell Bott, Mountain View Hospital, the EMT’s, Parkview LDS Ward and all those who have assisted Mom and her family. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 18, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Payson Utah South Stake Center, 700 South 600 East in Payson. Friends may call for viewing at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West in Payson, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Grave side services and burial will be Monday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
