Richfield, Utah - Leona Margareta Shaver, age 91, died peacefully on the morning of July 3, 2014 in Richfield, with her family near her. She was born June 20,1923 in Highfalls, Papineau, Bowman, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Wilhelm Ferdinand Karl and Ella Albertine Martha Cheslock Straby. Leona married Basil Earl Shaver, June 23, 1945 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, where they lived until 1953 when they immigrated to the United States in the summer of 1953. That summer, their marriage was solemnized the Logan LDS Temple. Then they resided in the Los Angeles area for 20 years where she was a stay-at-home Mom. They moved to Annabella in the summer of 1970 where they lived until they started going on missions in 1989. Lee served in several positions in the LDS Church, including: a counselor and teacher in the Annabella Ward Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary organizations in the Annabella Ward, and as a counselor in the Monroe Stake Young Women Presidency. She and her husband served in the Kinshasa Zaire Mission, the Brazzaville Congo Mission, the Richfield Employment Services Mission, and the Paris France Mission. She is survived by her children: Steward and Cynthia Shaver of Richfield; Ronald and Karen Shaver of Santa Clara; Doris (John S., deceased) Johnson of Richfield; Brian and Elisabeth Shaver of Keizer, Oregon; Steve and Yvonne Shaver of Monroe; 20 grandchildren; 381/2 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Bruce and Chris Straby of Ottawa, Canada; Vilma (Walter, deceased) Johanson of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister-in-law: Betty Widdowfield of Ottawa, Canada. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings: Conrad and Eva Straby; Elvira and Robert Culbert; Elda and Arnold Thompson; Henry and Rita Straby; Herta and Thomas Clary; Edgar and Denise Straby; Norma and Howard Johnston; Doris and Robert Addison; Bob and Phyllis Straby; Frances and Eugen Pfitzer; and a sister-in-law: June and Morris Hastie. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Richfield 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Monday from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Annabella City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
