Leroy D. Crawford

November 9, 1949 — August 9, 2016

Leroy Dalley Crawford, age 66, of Richfield, Utah passed away suddenly on August 9, 2016 in Richfield. He was born November 9, 1949 in Parowan, Utah, a son of Carl Leroy and Marie Dalley Crawford. As he grew up, music was his passion, and he learned to play not only the piano and organ, but also a variety of wind instruments, his favorite being the tuba, which he played in the Utah Valley Symphony at BYU. Leroy was called to the Southwest Indian Mission in 1969. He served the Navajo Native Americans, in the four corners area of the U.S., where Arizona, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico meet. He learned to speak Navajo fluently, which was no easy task. He married Susanne Swanson on May 23, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple and later divorced. They had four children together. During his many years of devoted church service, Leroy was always asked to play the organ or the piano because of the excellent repertoire of music he could play by heart, or sight read on the spur of the moment. Leroy is survived by his brother, Melvin Crawford, of Salt Lake City, UT; his children: Kristi Allred of Lehi, UT; Jaden (Lara) Crawford of Wellesley, MA; Glen (Nicola) Crawford, David (Cammie) Crawford, all of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren: Preston, Tayler, Kameron and Payten Allred, Lily Crawford and Mason Crawford; one great granddaughter, Haidyn Allred. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren, and they loved him right back! Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Richfield East LDS Stake Center, 805 North 500 East in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Graveside services and burial will be Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Valley View Memorial Park Cemetery, 4335 West 4100 South in West Valley City under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
