Lester J Anderson

Salt Lake City, Utah - Our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Lester Anderson passed away January 26, 2011 in Park City, Utah, due to congestive heart failure. Lester was born in Centerfield, Utah on May 5, 1921, a son of Alva Erastus and Hannah Jensen Anderson. He joined the U.S. Naval Service in 1942 and served his country during World War II. He married Karren Andreason on May 5, 1943 in Oakland, California. They returned to Utah when Lester was discharged from the Navy in 1945 and resided in Salt Lake City. They lived in the East Mill Creek area and owned and operated the Evergreen Cleaners for 40 years, retiring in 1987. Lester and Karren spent 61 years as loving, inseparable companions. Karren passed away December 22, 2004. Lester's greatest joy was his family and his home. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kathy and her husband Fred Handsaker; his grandsons and their wives: Clint and Katrina Handsaker, Trent and Aynie Handsaker; five great-grandchildren: Alix, Hadley, Jayden, Harper, Briggs, and one due in August 2011. He is also survived by his two sisters: Mavis Anderson Axtell of Culver City, California; Maurine and Dale Jensen of Richfield, Utah; and special brother-laws: Kent (Joy) Andreasen, Larry (Rolayne) Andreasen and sister in laws Tressie (Morris) Lund and Beth Gates. He loved and enjoyed many very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Karren, parents, his three brothers and spouses: Leland (Zelda), Eland (Alpha) and Wells (Grace); and his sister LaRue (Rellis) Sorensen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, where friends may call for viewing on Saturday one hour prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Redmond American Legion Post #118 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. The family would like to thank the special nurses and staff from Applegate HomeCare and Hospice for caring for Lester and his family during his time of need.
