Lila Torgenson

June 29, 1931 — August 5, 2011

Salina, Utah - Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Lila Rae Ivie Torgenson, age 80, died August 5, 2011 in Gunnisoni, Utah. She was born June 29, 1931 in Salina, a daughter of Dewey and Tirza Marie Bastian Ivie. She married Blaine J. Torgenson, June 26, 1948 in Salina, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 12, 1963. Blaine died September 22, 2007. Lila was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Primary Teacher and Counselor in the Primary Presidency; Cub Scout Leader; visiting teacher for many years with Dorothy Blackham and Josephine Crane; and she worked many years behind the scene doing Relief Society parties and funeral luncheons. Lila enjoyed sharing memories of life in Gooseberry, traveling back roads and deer hunting, dances with friends of 60 years (Wendell and Roa Mason). She was an avid reader and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, Lila enjoyed spending the summers in U.M. with Blaine and the grandkids. She is survived by her children: Barbara and Redge Hansen of Grand Junction, Colorado; Lois and Boyd Schow of Salt Lake City; David and Denene Torgenson of Salina; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: H. Neal Ivie, Lois and Riley Newton, all of Salt Lake City; Hazel Draper of Lancaster, California; Maxine and DeVerl Clark, William Dewey and Linda Ivie, all of Salina. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Salina 2nd and 3rd Ward Chapel, 87 South 100 East in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
