Linda Shinsel

March 17, 1947 — April 2, 2023

Richfield, Utah and Beaverton, OR - Linda Kay Jones Shinsel, our loving Aunt, Great Aunt, Wife, Sister, Daughter, and Friend was reunited with her beloved husband, Robert Eugene Shinsel on April 2, 2023. Being the trickster she was, our family thought she might die on April 1, but that was not the case.

Linda was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on March 17, 1947, to her parents Merle J. and Vaneta Belle Irwin Jones. Linda had one sister, Vicki Ann, and was raised and went to school in Kansas.

Linda met her sweetheart, Robert Eugene “Bob” Shinsel in the late 1960's and married him shortly thereafter. Linda and Bob settled in the Pacific Northwest where they built a life together. Linda converted to the LDS faith and she and Bob were sealed in the Seattle Washington LDS Temple in 1982. Linda had many jobs, but eventually retired from the Oregonian Newspaper.

Linda was an animal lover and had a tender heart for all of God's creatures. She had many cats and loved to spoil them. When talking with family members, one of the questions she frequently asked was "How are the kitties? Or how is the puppy?" When going to visit, she would always ask, "Did you bring....add any animal name here...with you?" She loved animals at least as much as she did the humans in her life.

While she did not have children, Linda was a loving aunt who adored her nieces and nephews. She was given the nickname of Aunt Bo which was a term of endearment ascribed to her by her brother-in-law (Bo was shortened from Bull-Headed). Linda was a generous soul and had an extremely kind heart. When she wanted something to go her way, she was also stubborn. Generally speaking, her resolve was always directed at being supportive of others. Linda was great at picking out the "perfect gift" for someone. She was always looking for something to demonstrate her love and knowledge of the people in her life. Linda was quick to laugh and was well known for the beautiful, bright sound of that laughter. She was kind to those around her and had a listening ear of compassion. She was quick to give grace and not judge others for the mistakes they made. Linda was not one to gossip about or to speak poorly of others. She gave others the benefit of the doubt and believed in their inherent goodness.

Linda has gone on to reunite with her husband Bob Shinsel, sister Vicki Jones, her parents and many beloved relatives who have passed before her. She will be greatly missed here on earth, but we look forward to seeing her again at the end of this journey.
