Lola S. Maxwell

September 17, 1923 — July 12, 2013

Salina, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Lola Minnie Shepherd Maxwell, age 89, died July 12, 2013 in Richfield, Utah. She was born September 17, 1923 in Salina, Utah, a daughter of John Worlock and Minnie Minetta Baxter Shepherd. She graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1941. She married William "Bill" Nehemiah Maxwell June 28, 1939 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 22, 1980. He died November 18, 2004. Lola was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Cub Scout Leader and Relief Society Visiting Teacher. She enjoyed keeping her yard and garden well groomed. She bottled the fruits and vegetables out of her garden and planted flowers around her home. She enjoyed vacationing throughout the United States and enjoyed hunting in her younger days and fishing throughout Utah. Lola was an exceptional artist and many family members have some of her drawings and paintings in their homes. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. Lola is survived by her three sons and their wives: Ron W. and Madeline Maxwell of Weatherford, Texas; Robert D. and Suzette Maxwell of Sandy; Jim and Terri Maxwell of Salina; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Gwen Shepherd of Pleasant Grove. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine and her husband Ron Thompson; a grandson, Stuart Thompson; one brother and five sisters: John Shepherd, Shirley Shepherd, Cleo Crandall, Beth Williams, Joyce Monke and Elna Terry. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the staff, nurses and doctors at Stonehenge of Richfield, for their kind and considerate care of our mother during the past 6 months. You made her life more bearable and we appreciate the love and care you showed to her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
