Loren W. Deleeuw

December 17, 1930 — March 27, 2011

Loren Wilford DeLeeuw, age 80, of Richfield, passed away March 27, 2011 at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living Center in Monroe, Utah. He was born December 17, 1930, the youngest son born to Wilford and Edna Brinkerhoff DeLeeuw in Bicknell, Utah. Loren grew up in Bicknell, working summers with his father at Sandy ranch, herding sheep, pitching hay, and assorted other jobs until he met Geraldine (Jerry) Breinholt of Richfield, on a blind date at Fish Lake. Loren and Jerry were married November 2, 1951 in Venice, Utah, and moved to Salt Lake where Loren worked for Garrett Trucking and Utah Poultry until being hired permanently for Mountain Bell Telephone, where he retired after 31 years of service. After retirement, Loren and Jerry spent several years snow-birding to Arizona and traveling around the United States, making friends along the way. Each grandchild got to spend a week in Arizona playing with Grandma and Grandpa DeLeeuw. In 1999 Loren and Jerry moved home to Richfield and built their dream home, planning years with family and friends. Jerry passed away August 21, 2005. Loren is survived by his children, Kathleen and Bill DeVore of Richfield; Wayne and Eileen DeLeeuw of Tooele; 5 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren; 1 sister, Orpha Pugh of Orem. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 2 sisters: James DeLeeuw, Hazel Chesnut and Elma Moosman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Richfield 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 675 West 200 South in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
