Manti, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Lorene Maddox Blatter, age 92 of Manti, died December 14, 2007 at her home in Manti. She was born May 17, 1915 in Mancos, Colorado, a daughter of Stewart Carlile and Delia Fielding Maddox. She graduated from Rose Bud High School, Class of 1933 and she received a B.A. from the University of Utah. She married Gottlieb Blatter September 11, 1935 in Logan, Utah. He died July 23, 1958. Lorene was an active member of the LDS Church, where she worked in all the auxiliary organizations. She served as 2nd Counselor in the Relief Society; Secretary of the MIA; Beehive Teacher, Theology Teacher in Relief Society; Primary President, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Chorister and Temple Ordinance Worker. She was also active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed quilt making, sewing, gardening, genealogy and reading. She is survived by her children: Gailya Grant of Creston, British Columbia; Layne Blatter of Payson; Mahlon Blatter of Anaheim Hills, CA; Steven Blatter of Farmington; Clo Foote of Olympia, WA; 27 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Patchell of Boise, ID and Dixie Stephens of Pasco, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wesley C. Maddox. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Manti LDS Tabernacle, 96 South Main Street in Manti, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Grave side services and burial will be Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Centerville City Cemetery in Centerville, Utah, under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
