Lu Conrad

April 3, 1937 — June 13, 2006

Fremont, Utah - Hey guys, Lu here, thought I’d drop a line, some of you may already know a lot about me, for the rest of you, let me fill you in. I was born April 3, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a daughter of William and Margurite Skoglund Walters, and I lived a huge life, loved every minute of it, and had amazing adventures, except for the near drowning experience on the Green River, and I have always played well with others. Married Larry Blake. When he was killed in the service, and just when I thought my life was over (silly me) I went to work at Alta Ski Resort and met my Ray Conrad. We were married September 25, 1962. We had 2 boys, Curt and Kent, but we didn’t let that slow us down. WE started working at Alta, moved to Red Lodge, cooking, then to Aspen, Colorado, where I cooked, baked, skied, skied more, taught skiing, baked .....We managed to make a life out of what we enjoyed doing at the time. We retired from Aspen Health Services after 10 years of escorting, driving kids and learnin’ them crossword puzzles. We got busy playing finally, tennis, golf, boating, snowshoeing, cattle driving and the Tuesday night pot lucks. I think I loved horses and animals as much as humans. I am survived by Ray Conrad, my husband; Curt and Michal Conrad, son and his wife; Kent and Lisa and Tony Conrad, son, wife and grandson; and Katrina Conrad, granddaughter; Bunky, beloved dog; Schwartz, adopted black cat; and K.C. who adopted Ray and me. And my many, many friends, who started out as strangers. No funeral service to be held at this time, memorial services will be at a later date. Instead of gifts, please make contributions to “Best Friends” Animal Sanctuary, in Kanab, Utah. See you at the end of the Rainbow Bridge.
