Lynn Ray Avis

Joseph, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Lynn Ray Avis, age 62, of Joseph, passed away December 10, 2020 in Provo, Utah, just two days after his 62 birthday. He was born December 8, 1958 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Benny Ray and Naoma Atkinson Avis. He grew up in Roy and graduated from Roy High School, Class of 1977. He married the love of his life, Denise Atwood July 7, 1978 in the Ogden LDS Temple. Lynn worked as an auto mechanic in an auto body shop for a while and then moved to Joseph where he farmed. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various positions. Lynn enjoyed going for rides in the mountains around Joseph. He loved classic cars, Dutch oven cooking, camping, fishing, firearms, anything automotive and spending time with his family. He loved teaching his grandkids to drive. Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Denise, of Joseph; children: Sarah and Bruce Sorensen of Richfield; Margaret and Kent Tolley of Midvale; Nicole and Aaron Lowder of Hooper; Holly and Matt Fackrell of Mona; Colton and Jackie Avis of Elsinore; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Elaine and Dennis Draper of Slaterville; Kathleen and George Brandenburg of Roy; Glen and Ruth Avis of Ogden; Steve and Natalie Avis of Taylorsville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Naoma Avis; and two brothers: Brent Jay Avis and Bryan Dale Avis. At his request, his remains have been cremated and his ashes will be scattered on the surrounding mountains that he loved. Services under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
