Mack D. Camp

June 4, 1927 — September 28, 2016

Central Valley, Utah - Mack Dale Camp, age 89, passed from this mortal life on September 28, 2016 in Orem, Utah from complications due to old age. He was born June 4, 1927 in Annabella, Utah, the sixth child of William Edward and Fern Hanchett Camp. Mack's childhood was spent in Burrville, Utah. Mack married Lola George on December 25, 1960 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were later divorced. He worked for the BLM for many years. Mack was a faithful member of the LDS Church and has served faithfully in many callings. Mack married Donna Belle Whiting McEwen December 1`, 1973. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, January 31, 1976. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2008. One of the great loves that Mack had in his life was horse racing, of which he thrived as a jockey, trainer and owner. Perhaps the highlight of Mack and Donna's life together was their wagon train experience where they shared the pioneer experience with friends and family. Mack was a man for all age, beloved by thousands for his many Christ like attributes. If you met Mack in this life you will be his friend throughout eternity. Mack was known for many good and great things, but perhaps foremost to all these attributes was his willingness and desire to love and serve his fellowmen. We are sure each of you have memories and thoughts unique to you of the many services and moments of love and friendship that you shared with this good man. A book could and should be written about his life and accomplishments. Thanks to all who touched the amazing life that Mack spent here in mortality. Surely the greatest example of Mack's life was the faithful, angelic way that he always took care of our dear mother, Donna Belle Camp, but more especially after she suffered a series of devastating strokes that left her in urgent need of Christ like service. This service was provided in a way, the likes of which has seldom been rendered to any of God's children. We will be forever grateful for this service and the example that Mack set for us. Mack is the father of four children: Jerald Ricky (Amy) McEwen of Richfield; Michael Shane (Mary) McEwen, Tracey Kay (J) Smithee, all of Orem; and Berta Marie (Randy) Smithee of Payson; the grandfather of 23 grandchildren; and the great-grandfather of fifty-two, with two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way. Mack is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Udean Camp of Orem and Peggy Camp of Pleasant Grove. He has nineteen nieces and nephews along with their families who absolutely loved and adored him. Mack is preceded in death by his mother and father. Mack is also the brother of seven siblings, all who have preceded him in death. They are: Bliss (Wayne) Bishop; Lyle Camp; Vaun (Dick) Seely; William Cray Camp; Barbara Rae (Wayne) King; Phyllis (Johnny) Stapleton; and Bud Chad Camp. After Donna's death, Mack married Darlene Harris, February 4, 2009 in Manti, Utah. Darlene's children are: Jana (Tom) Olsen; Terry (Ellis) Nelson; Paul (Julie) Harris; John (Pam) Harris; and Robert (Sabrina) Harris. Mack will be sorely missed by all of us. His reunion with our dear Mother and all of his family and friends that have returned home before him, surely has made the heavens weep with joy. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Annabella 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 89 North 100 East in Annabella.
