January 18, 1919 — April 8, 2008

Redmond, Utah - Our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Madge Willardson Green, joined her husband, Dell Roy Green, in Heaven early Tuesday morning, April 8, 2008. Madge had been suffering recently from congestive heart failure and was preceded in death by her husband two weeks earlier. Madge was 89 years old. She was born January 18, 1919 in Redmond, Utah, the daughter of Neils Peter and Idella Rasmussen Willardson. Her grandmother, Christine Willardson, came from Denmark alone at the age of twelve years to live with an uncle in 1937. In school, her classmates described her as beautiful, radiant and one of the most loved girls in school. She was a true model of unselfishness and friendship. Everyone loved her because she was always bubbling with pep and enthusiasm. She was involved in many drama and forensic activities. She loved to perform! Madge was a serious thinker with high ideals. She had a passionate belief in God and her Church, and sought to influence those around her through her commitment to her beliefs. These high ideals formed with the influence of her loving mother. She patterned a life filled with significance and worthwhile achievements. Madge was married to Dell Roy Green, her high school sweetheart and classmate on January 10, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had been married for 68 years. Shortly after their marriage, World War II broke out and her husband, Dell, joined the US Navy. Madge lived in Salt Lake City and worked as a nurses aide at the LDS Hospital and also in a parachute plant. After the war, their son David was born in1947. They lived in Redmond for several years and in 1954, the Green family moved to Empire, Nevada where Dell worked for the United States Gypsum Company and Madge worked as a waitress for several years. In 1962 Madge received the position of Postmaster for the Empire Post Office. She held that position for 23 years until her retirement in 1985. Her post office was kept immaculate, with beautiful flowers and a warm welcome to all customers. After her retirement, Madge enjoyed her home in Gerlach, Nevada. There she had many loving experiences with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family very much. Madge was preceded in death by her husband, Dell Roy Green, father, Neils peter Willardson; mother, Idella Rasmussen Willardson; brothers: Paul (Loretta) Willardson; Arnold (Helen) Willardson; along with her sisters: Joan Willardson, Irene (Roberts) Armijo; and Betty (Lynn) Kane. She is survived by her son, David (Susie) Green; granddaughters: Becky Green and Rhonda (Richard) Genz; great-grandchildren: Ricky, Sierra and Sequoia Genz; brother, Richard (Kay) Willardson; sister: Susan (Vernon) Sorensen and numerous nieces and nephews. I though of you with love today, but that is nothing new. I though about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak you name. All I have is memories and your picture in a frame. You memory is my keepsake with which I’ll never part, God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart. Madge was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. On Saturday, April 19, 2008 a viewing will be held at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street, in Salina from 12:30 to 1:30 after which a graveside service will be held at the Redmond Cemetery at 2:00 P.M.
