Mae E. Peterson

March 4, 1924 — December 19, 2014

Aurora, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mae Ethel Slade Peterson, age 90, of Aurora, passed away December 19, 2014, in Richfield, with her family at her side. She was born March 4, 1924 in Salina, a daughter of William Benjamin and Elizabeth Anderson Slade. She married Clifford Peterson, January 6, 1940 in Aurora. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in 1957. Clifford died April 18, 1989. Mae was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as the ward Librarian and in the Relief Society. She worked at the Salina Elementary School as a cook and School Lunch Manager for 33 years. After retiring in 1975, she was a volunteer at the school for an additional 19 years. She was a member of the Salina Lions Club, Salina Senior Citizens and Archeology Member. She enjoyed fishing, camping, bird watching, arrowhead hunting, gathering twisted wood for her centerpieces, traveling and working in her beautiful yard. Mae is survived by her son, Gary and his wife, Claudia Peterson of Fruita, Colorada; four grandchildren: Kurt Peterson, Cari and Dennis Cardenas, all of Denver, Colorado; Don and Alice Ackerman of Golden, Colorado; Cindy Ackerman of Aurora, Colorado; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Lee Peterson; and her husband Cliff. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 12 Noon in the Aurora 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
