Margaret Ann Gardner Kyhl, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at the age of 69, after a courageous seven year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Margaret was born on October 26, 1955, in Richfield, Utah, to Hart and Jane Gardner. She grew up surrounded by love, faith, and a spirit of service that defined her life.
Margaret married her sweetheart, Gary Kyhl, in the Manti Temple and together they celebrated 47 wonderful years of marriage. They started their married life in Richfield before moving to Nephi for 15 years. Throughout this time they created cherished memories before returning to their hometown of Richfield, where they spent their remaining years surrounded by family and friends.
Margaret was a devoted mother to her sons, Tyson and Travis, who were her pride and joy. Her greatest happiness came from her family, including her cherished seven grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Margaret had a zest for simple pleasures, including going for a 30 minute drive everyday and getting a Diet Dr. Pepper from her favorite convenience store, camping, vacationing, and playing the piano. Her love of the outdoors and spending time with her family created lasting memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
Faith and kindness guided her actions in life. Margaret is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She exemplified Christ-like service and found joy in helping others, leaving a legacy of love and compassion in her community.
Margaret had an influence on the lives of many people, but felt her years as the secretary at Richfield High School working with the staff and students was her most cherished.
Even as she bravely faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, Margaret remained a source of love and inspiration to those around her. Her warmth, selflessness, and laughter will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Gary, of Richfield; her children Tyson (Abbey) Kyhl of Bountiful; Travis (Robyn) Kyhl of Richfield and 7 grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son, Gary J, who was stillborn and always held a special place in her heart, parents, Hart and Jane Gardner; siblings, Perry Gardner, Suzanne Peterson, Melanie Gardner, and Julianne Gardner.
The family would like to thank Legacy House of Spanish Fork, and iCare Home Health and Hospice for the loving support they provided to Margaret during her final months.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Margaret’s honor to Alzheimer’s research or a cause that reflects her lifelong commitment to serving others.
