Marian P Phillips

August 12, 1924 — July 18, 2012

There is a joyous reunion being held in Heaven. Marian is reunited with her beloved husband and son. She has missed them for so long and is finally in their arms again. Marian Phyllis Ingram Phillips “Granny”, was born to Harvey and Gertie Ingram on August 12, 1924 in Goodland, Kansas, the 9th of 10 children and died July 18, 2012 in Richfield, Utah. She was raised in Goodland and met Chester Phillips in high School. They were married August 2, 1944 and moved to Bremerton, Washington, where he was stationed in the US Navy. Their daughter, Judy, was born there and upon their return to Goodland, their son, Jerry was born. Marian and Chester moved to Golden, Colorado in 1955. Marian worked in dental offices as an assistant, taught assisting and was President of that organization for a term. After Chester passed away in 1997. She moved to Utah to be closer to her daughter and grandson, but her heart stayed in Colorado. Marian was an excellent seamstress and doll-maker. She made many ceramic dolls and some of the clothes they wore, even Judy’s wedding dress. She loved flowers and plants and always had plenty of both around her. Before health issues affected her, she loved to travel and was able to visit foreign countries and Hawaii. She was never one to just follow....she was independent, opinionated and had a wicked sense of humor and wit that not everyone “got”. She was a loving and generous mother and granny and set the example of how to be the best. She loved being around her grandson, Jason and his family. She was actively involved and had many friends at the Senior Center in Richfield until her health prevented her from attending. Marian is survived by her daughter, Judy Weber, grandson Jason Hardinger and his wife, Sarah and their children: Kashae, Walker, Trevin, Gavin, Ridge Hardinger, Brekelle and Stetson Yardley. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Sammons and numerous nieces and nephews. Her son Jerry, was killed in Viet Nam, November 7, 1968 and her husband Chester died November 7, 1997. Her death leaves a huge void for her family and she will be missed every day. The family is most appreciative of the care given by the Richfield Rehabilitation and Care Center during the last year. An informal open house with light refreshments will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Marian’s home, 30 South 200 East in Richfield, from 3 to 5 P.M. Please bring memories and special stories to share.
