Marie Blackett

September 22, 1936 — September 21, 2023

Richfield, Utah- Marie Henrie Blackett passed peacefully into eternity at her home September 21, 2023 at the age of 86. She was born on September 22, 1936 in Provo, Utah to Danton and Berneice Mathews Henrie.

She lived, raised her family, served her Savior and community most of her life in Richfield, Utah. She was raised and attended school in Cedar City, Utah. She met the love of her life, Kim Blackett, while she was waitressing at a drive-in. He would come in while she was working and ask her out on dates. She finally said yes. They were married August 16, 1958, and later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple July 23, 1960. Kim preceded her in death May 27, 2016.

A family business moved Marie, Kim, and their family to Richfield in 1966, where they successfully operated Blackett Cleaners for over 35 years. Marie loved being involved in the community where she served as a volunteer EMT for over 20 years. She had many hobbies that kept her busy. In their early days, Marie and Kim would travel all over to go square dancing. She crocheted afghans, baby blankets, made numerous quilts for everyone in her family. Marie enjoyed attending to her rose garden, camping fishing, was an avid Jazz fan, and most importantly watching her grandchildren.

Marie had a deep love for the church and a strong testimony of the gospel. She loved to go to the temple and would try to make it a weekly visit. She considered her greatest calling and accomplishment to be a faithful wife and mother to her three sons. She loved her many friends, neighbors, and Richfield 5th Ward families. She adored their children and adored when they would come over to visit. She appreciated the phone calls and visits from friends these last few years, when it was harder for her to get out.

Marie is survived by two sons, Kim M. (Carol) Blackett, and Paul K Blackett. Her grandchildren: Dixie Atkinson; Krista (Wesley) Burr; Cody (Laura) Blackett; Caden Blackett; Jeromie (Amber) Blackett; Kirk (Delaney) Blackett; Jett Wall; as well as 26 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Larry Lee, and grandson: Rayan Larry.
